Finally Caught Up - Day 11 (9.21.10)

Yes everyone, I am finally caught up, not only with my blog posts but all of my work. I grudgingly made my way to my 8 o'clock class to discover that I made the top score on my speech test with a 100 and I made a perfect score on my speech itself, which was pretty freaking sweet. After class I had a filling carton of chocolate milk for breakfast and finished The Red Tent. It had a very good ending - I recommend it.

Once that little task was taken care of, Blake and I made our way over to the cafeteria and I realized that I sort of feel like I'm stalking another student. Every Tuesday and Thursday, we're always in the lunch room at the exact same time as this kid but we get there just a little later and I always find myself staring at his hair because of how shockingly blonde it is and he often catches me looking. I don't mean to be a total creeper, I just come across in that manner. Oh well.

At least my theology class was a relief from that awkwardness in a completely different awkward manner. Today, two of the main participants in the discussions were out ill and that left me and the other guy in there to do most of the talking, and even though we are full of ideas and opinions, we can only say so much. The professor was looking for people other than us to speak and there a three minute span of time where the only audible noise was the sound of the clock ticking. I hate that feeling you get when EVERYONE is quiet. It hits a nerve deep down that makes me shudder and giggle. I don't like it.

Anyways, after class Blake took me to Walmart so I could get water and some AAA batteries for my roommate to use in his PS2 controller. I also got the chance to swiffer Blake's disgusting room (it's gross and practically inhabitable because of his roommate) and what mess the Swiffer couldn't get, the vacuum did. I made sure that Blake talked with his roommate about the level of filth in there. Believe me, I would go into detail but just reading about it would induce vomiting.

Eventually Fiona and I enjoyed a nice dinner when I had a nice bowl of chili and chicken salad on a croissant while Blake was in class. Then the three of us were joined by Tina and about 7 other people to watch Glee on the big screen. It was a great episode and a really strong start to season two. What did you all think?

After Glee, Blake, Fiona, Tori, Caitlyn and myself all made our way to CVS to buy condoms, shampoo, and water. Then we went to the oh so Christian Chic-fil-a for chocolate shakes because everyone knows they have the best ones around. Finally, we came back to the dorm and we hung out in Caitlyn's room for awhile until I decided to go up to lay in bed in to study. And now as I type this, Blake has fallen asleep in my bed and I have no room to lay down. Oh well. So until tomorrow... follow me on Twitter @henderch16, link's in the side. Subscribe!

I Don't Really Remember Today - Day 10 (9.20.10)

Yeah, I'm sitting here thinking, what did I do today? Honestly, I can't really remember. I know I woke up and went to psychology to take a test, then had lunch, went to the library for my English class, and then sat through another torturous Ideas and Innovations class. But after that my mind just kind of goes blank. I think really it was because I just sort of sat around today. I read a little of the last part of The Red Tent but after that I just sort of sat around. I remember putting in Bayonetta and playing that for awhile. I was just out of it today. Sorry for the super short post. So until tomorrow... follow me on Twitter @henderch16, link's in the side bar. Subscribe!

Back to Austin - Day 9 (9.19.10)

Yes, it's Sunday and we're headed back home. I woke up at 11:30 today which was not cool because I had planned on doing all of my homework since we were supposed to leave at three. I spent what little time I had left of the morning putting my last load of clothes on the wash and doing one assignment for my speech class. On the bright side, I learned that I made a 100 on both my first speech and my first test. Oh, and they put in my AP scores which came out to 28 hours which means that I can have my BA in three years. Sweet!

Anyways, I went to get my haircut today and while I was waiting, there was a very rotund man sitting next to me - smacking. I was about to punch him in the face, but as I pulled my fist back in my imagination, I realized it was Blake's dad. In other words, a selfish, ignorant asshole with an obnoxious smacking problem. PS, his dad doesn't know I exist, at least not at his boyfriend. It's a long story and maybe I'll tell you later. But, for now, all that's important is that I finally got my haircut. Good day so far.

While I was at the barber, my mom and sister had been at Walmart going ape shit buying me things I didn't really need, like a kitchen set. Although, I did get a Swiffer so now I can finally clean up my room and the bathroom and the hallway in my suite because quite frankly, they are disgusting. Oh, and I got some of the chocolate brownie Clif bars, my favorite. Once I got back to the house, I quickly packed everything I had brought down plus the extra goodies that I had acquired and played the waiting game for Blake to arrive.

Tina came to the house all prepared at 2:45 and we had to sit around for another thirty minutes while someone took his sweet time. No, he was running late for a good reason but by the time he got there, we had to spend another thirty minutes trying to pack his tiny ass BMW for the road. We finally managed and the only person in danger was Tina with a pile of suitcases waiting to cascade upon her at any given right turn. We pulled out of the driveway at 3:45, made a quick stop by Sonic for lunch and happy hour (I got a route 44 watermelon slush that lasted me the whole trip), and we were finally on the road back by 4.

We spent the majority of the car ride studying for our psychology test on Monday and altogether having a good time. Blake stopped at Dairy Queen for a Blizzard and we were back on campus at 7:15. It took Blake and I four trips to unload our stuff from his car and by the time we were finished unpacking, cleaning, and making our beds, it was practically 9:30. We then made a quick trip to Subway which happened to be right next to a Little Caesar's so I ran inside for some krazy bread. If you've never had krazy bread, believe me, you are one unfortunate soul. Well Blake finally went to bed, and I've stayed up until 1 to study. Where's My Lobster? - Day 8 (9.18.10)

It's Saturday and I'm still celebrating my birthday! Hooray! Today is the day my family showered me with presents. I woke up to freshly baked snicker doodles, a warm hoodie, and my Barnes & Noble Nook. I was most excited about the Nook because I've been looking forward to it for about that past three months. I immediately downloaded the last two books in the Millennium series. You know, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest all by the now deceased Stieg Larson. It's a fantastic series and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery or a thriller.

Anyways, I went to Red Lobster for my birthday lunch with my family, Blake, my best friend Jennifer, and a super surprise visit from one of my favorite people in the world, Stacy. Jennifer gave  me a Rikku key chain (Final Fantasy X-2) even though I still don't have my car back. I satisfied my over exaggerated birthday hunger with crab cakes, shrimp scampi, lobster, snow crab legs, mashed potatoes, fried shrimp, six biscuits, and a slice of apple crumble. Shut up! It's my birthday and I have every right to subscribe to fat assery.

After dinner, Blake and I went to hang out with our friend Chelsea who is currently stranded in Houston because of her parents. We decided to take a risk and see Devil directed by M. Night Shyamalan, whom we all know has not produced a good film in... well I've lost count of the years. In case you were wondering, it was actually very well done. The acting could have been better from a few characters but altogether it was enjoyable - good plot, nice suspense, and a pretty good twist at the end. You should definitely give it a chance.

So once the movie was over, Blake, Chelsea and I went to Culver's for dinner... well so Chelsea could eat dinner. Blake and I were still stuffed from Red Lobster. Chelsea had her burger and Blake and I longed for a malt but feared that it would induce vomiting. We dropped off Chelsea and ended up back at my house where we talked through the argument we had had the night before. Pretty good considering it was our first one in over 8 months and we weren't really even fighting. Blake eventually went home and now I'm tired. Going Home - Day 7 (9.17.10)

Ah, it's the day after my birthday, so therefore, it's still my birthday. Today started off pretty slowly with my psychology class and then I got the news. My car will not be back from the shop for another week. Just to catch you up, four weeks ago, I was hit by an idiot speeding down a residential street and somehow it was pinned as my fault - I "should have been paying attention." Whatever State Farm. Anyways, the car has been in the shop for three weeks already, and my mother never thought to call and check up on it until today only to discover it wasn't ready. I was so pissed off. It was almost to the point that I wasn't going to go home but thanks to my friends, and cookies, I calmed down.

Blake and I started packing after my English class and once we had made the multiple trips to the car (I practically emptied my half of my room), we drove across campus to pick up Tina. We finally hit the road back to Houston at around 4 and had a pretty smooth ride back home, minus the storm during the first hour or so. We stopped for dinner at a Taco Bell/KFC. What? It's my fatass birthday weekend okay. We finally got back to my house at 7 and Tina's boyfriend picked her up to go to football game while Blake and I just hung around my house until midnight or so. Yeah, so not much to write about for today. That and the fact that this post is three days late. Sorry. I've just been so busy. It's My Birthday! - Day 6 (9.16.10)

That's right everyone, today I am old. 19 to be exact. I can already feel the cataracts forming. Today was pretty much awesome. My eight o'clock class was only twenty minutes long cause I just took a super easy test and then Blake took me to Starbucks so I could get some hot tea and a piece of coffee cake. When we came back, we just sat around and did some homework and we kind of of got into a little disagreement about his parents, but that's not important.

Two o'clock eventually rolled around and I walked into my theology class to discover it had been cancelled. Hooray! So I went back to the dorm with Blake and he made me my favorite dessert: devil's food cake with white icing. It was, and still is, soooooooo good. My other friends came down and had some cake, wished me a happy birthday, and we played a few rounds of pool. It was pretty much a whole lot of sitting around waiting for 7 because Tina was taking me to the school play.

Now look, I'm a theater person. I had major roles in about 10 different plays over the past four years so I know a little something about what works and what doesn't. And this play, doesn't. The Imaginary Invalid is a play from the 1600s and has been receiving a lot of hype because it was only recently translated into English. Maybe there was a reason no one ever took the time to translate it. The script was absolutely horrendous. The actors were great, considering what garbage they were working with. There was no real plot, no character development, and the ending was a giant "what the fuck." Needless the say, Tina and I were wholly disappointed.

After being released from that monstrosity, Tina, Blake, and I all went to Tori's dorm to cheer ourselves up by watching the The Reduced Shakespeare Company's Shakespeare: Abridged. Now that's funny. Tori popped us all some popcorn and for my birthday she made me a cupcake and gave me a real life Starman! If you don't know what that is, think Mario. If you don't know what that is... just give up. Or google it. Anyways, sorry for the late posting. It's been a busy couple of days. So until tomorrow... which will be in a couple of hours... Follow me on Twitter @henderch16. Link is to the right. Could You Wear Shoes Please - Day 5 (9.15.10)

Wednesday started off in the exact same way that Monday did - only today, Blake brushed his teeth! Yay! And for some reason, I had the urge to go barefoot. I actually hate wearing shoes. Well, actually I hate wearing socks and I don't like flip flops so barefoot seems to be the best option. Freedom from my shoes was almost all I could think about during psychology today while we were looking at optical illusions.

When we were released from class five minutes early, Blake and I hit the cafeteria before the rush and I went back to my lunch of chicken caesar salad. I spent my hour between classes catching up on my You Tube videos mostly so I wouldn't have to do any work. Then I went to my English class and turned in a paper and proceeded to sit through another unbearable Ideas and Innovations class. Today it actually really frustrated me as we were talking about calculus (one of my favorite subjects) and the professor didn't know what he was talking about while I did, but he refused to acknowledge that I was correct. I got so pissed off. Whatever, I don't take it again for five more days. Bleh.

For the next two hours I occupied my time with reading The Red Tent which got unexpectedly graphic and bloody really quickly - I was actually just as shocked as the characters were. Then Blake and Fiona came up to my room and we headed down to our dorm hall's free barbecue. As college kids, free food is pretty much the most exciting thing to ever happen for us. Then I received a lovely package from my mom and a birthday card from my grandma (I turn 19 tomorrow). My grandma graciously gave me $30 which was very nice of her and my mom sent me an awesome box full of food - most notably a giant ass Rice Krispie Treat. It's one foot wide, fifteen inches long, and weighs two pounds. I don't know how I'm going to be able to eat it all. Oh and my favorite things were these new Keebler cookies that taste EXACTLY like caramel delights or somoas, the girl scout cookies. I almost died of happiness.

The rest of the evening went by pretty smoothly. A lot of us just sat around and re-watched the season finale of Glee and munched on the giant Rice Krispie. Blake has been acting all jealous and neglected because I commented on this guy's really nice body and how I wish I looked like him. But he's just joking so it's all cool. Maybe I really should go to the gym. Though I have been getting in push ups at various times throughout the day. Or other small, fun little exercises. I mean, all I really need to do is tone up a little cause I don't really have any fat to get rid of.

Oh, the title of the blog. My friend Caitlyn and I did laundry tonight and then went to the cafeteria to get some nachos and because my shoes were on the fourth floor and we were on the first, I decided to just go barefoot cause I was only going to be in there for about two minutes. As we're paying, one of the workers comes up to me and says "I feel like we've already had this conversation before" which immediately made me feel awkward because he's gay and thirty and well Caitlyn and I both thought he was about to hit on me. No, instead I get a bit too much attitude with a "could you wear shoes next time you're in here" and a dramatic turn and walk away. Um, okay sure. I've never actually talked to you before but sure, assume all you want. And this got me thinking, honestly what's the difference of my walking in there in my dirty old flip flops and going barefoot? Nothing really. Oh well, I'll try to make him happy. I just expected a bit more politeness from the guy. I should stop complaining though, cause most of the time he is really nice. Okay, I'm done ranting about such a trivial thing. I have to go study for a speech test tomorrow - whatever that's over.
