Meeting the Family - Day 2 (9.12.10)

Well today was another "not so much going on" day. I woke up only to take care of some homework and again had my daily salad for lunch (caesar). That's when Blake told me to news. "You're gonna meet my cousin today!" Oh. Great. I can't wait to meet your conservative family. But I was way too quick to judge.

We headed over to Redbud Isle Park at around 3 to meet Erin and her puppy, June. Let me just say that June is the biggest pup I have ever seen. It may have to do with the whole she's a Great Dane thing but still. Now look, I'm six feet tall and when that dog is on two legs it can look me in the eye. Anyways, we hung out in the park for about an hour while sweat practically flowed from my skin. Today was not a good day to be outside.

After the park, we went to Erin's duplex way up north of Austin, almost to Round Rock. It's a cute little setup with very modest furnishings minus the giant Samsung television that pulls the attention of the living room. We met Boo, the cat suffering from nasty bacterial infection on his face but he was cute nonetheless. It was kind of nice being away from the dorm life and in an actual home again. We just got to sit around without any real noise and just talk while Erin successfully made turkey spaghetti for the first time. I love it when ground beef is replaced with ground turkey - it just tastes so much better! Not to mention it's way better for you. Plus I learned how cool Erin is and she seemed like she was absolutely supportive of Blake and I's relationship which is always a nice little blessing.

Then after we took an hour to say goodbye, we came back to campus and attempted to dive into homework, but the Video Music Awards were on, and well, that's just distracting. Though I was glad that Lady Gaga swept the floor with her, what was it, eight awards or something. She deserves them in my opinion, I mean she is a musical genius. Oh and was anyone else a major fan Florence's performance? I love Florence and the Machine. I didn't even know she was up for awards even though I've been listening to her since last year. Blake and I ended the day in the laundry room while he washed his clothes - and sadly it was the quietest place in the building for me to do my work. Oh well.  He bought me a strawberry Pop-Tart, so it was all good. But now I want a burrito. I know what I'm having for dinner tomorrow. So until tomorrow... Follow me on Twitter @henderch16
